Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
probably, but i think their injuries are a big deal.

for me it's about shape, application and approach.
do we look organised?
are we trying to win the ball back or just strolling around?
do we have a pattern of play? (plan)

Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
It definitely is the game we should be winning but what I'm trying to say is that we will see much better football tommorow.

Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
goose, I think Watford will be saying the same..

Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
I was worried about us getting overrun again in midfiled against this mob but if Doucore (definitely spelt that wrong) is out thats a huge loss to them, hes the player we wished Kouyate could have been for us.

Alf
As I said never gonna happen but to me it’s an absolute no brainer.

goose 4:38 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
not really as its only one game against a team bang out of form.
if we dont win you'll say 'we are ahead of last season' or 'give him time' or 'we had people injured last season'.

lets be honest it's a game we should be winning.

Sajmo1 4:35 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
Cheers goose. I guess tommorow's game will tell who's wrong.

Hmmm... fit a system and formation to the players available in the squad.... :-) Yes , Pellegrini is 4-4-2 always isn't he?

Which is why we hoped that he would recruit some "legs", "stamina" and "physicality". He didn't. Unless he thinks the return of Sanchez ticks that box? The "legs" bit for a 33/34 year old is a stretch aint it ?

goose 4:32 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
not much Sajmo1.

you've made that pretty clear.

Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
I still think it's pretty hard to recover from having 10 out of your 25 players injured but what do I know.

Sir Alf 4:29 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
I know what you mean, Brighton didn't have better players in terms of footballing ability, skill, technique or whatever we want to call it but they had a better balance about their team and a better work rate, were quicker to the ball and showed much better movement. They should have beaten us 3 or 4 - 1 but fortunately one thing they dont or didn't have on the day was the ability to take chances.

rochesterjohn 4:26 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
Pellegrini is really struggling with the physicality of the Premier, at Man City he had the best players and Yaya Toure, really not that difficult to manage.
In Spain, he did unbelievably well but in a more technical league which suits his style to the ground.
In China he had his feet up so not gonna judge him on that.
I honestly feel 3-5-2 is the way to go, Fredericks and Arthur would thrive in that system, Rice would protect the back 3 and Lanzini Anderson Antonio and Haller would cause havoc with that stable base behind them!
Never gonna happen though...

fraser 4:18 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
Doesn't have to me attractive, just effective, we were all over the place.

In our second season of that system Brighton in their second game looked more accomplished, are you saying they had better players then us in their starting 11, no they didn't, yet they managed fine..

Sir Alf 4:15 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
Watford have been really struggling and low in confidence.

"Oh look who we are playing next ?" "The gift that keeps on giving". :-(

Expect them to bully our little midfield "munchins" off the park and make it look like we are running in deep sea diving boots. It is what 60 years of following West Ham leads you to expect. Does not help that we have looked pedestrian in both games so far

Will Pellegrini change his spots and ask the midfielders all to work and press and track when we have not got the ball or lose it? Not in his "play book" I don't think?

Who does he play alongside Rice?. If he starts with Wilshire and we have Fornals and Lanzini in there too we will struggle again IMO unless, like I say, some of our featherweights put in a shift.

Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
You will see tomorrow that haller and felipe are just irreplaceable for us. I just don't understand why do you think that we are capable of playing attractive football with antonio/snodgrass and chicha in our first 11.

Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
It's bad when basically your support tries to except and even make excuses that our season doesn't possibly start until September, as the same 'our season starts here' was said for the Brighton game...........

......first sign of progress, start the season competitively at the very least..............lose, but lose knowing your heads are held high.

We can all but dream.......

fraser 4:03 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
DHH, that's a skewed way to see it, I prefer to judge our performances, and so far they've been very poor. I'm sure our squad cost a lot more than Brighton's.

So if we can't go on the pitch against them and not get bullied and totally outplayed because we have 2 players missing something is seriously wrong.

I expect us to get better though, but that wasn't good enough, and if it isn't good enough the manager has to take some responsibility.

diehardhammer 3:57 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
the way i see it is directly compare it to last season, after 4 games we had 0 points and we've already improved on last season despite missing anderson and our new star striker

fraser 3:54 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
No we didn't but our performance was poor and disjointed.

Not sure they're our two best players either, one has played only one game. They were playing a whole new system, which we did last season so people were saying we lost our four first games but takes time to change, can't have it every way to defend us can you.

diehardhammer 3:50 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
out played by Brighton.

didnt lose and didnt have our 2 best players available

fraser 3:50 Fri Aug 23
Re: WHU team Vs Watford?
Funny that, after City our season started against Brighton.

I'm not getting on his back but fuck me according to you our two results have nothing to do with him.

Potter has been at Brighton for 2 games, and they seemed more at ease with their system than we did with ours, so no excuses. It just wasn't good enough.
